First off, these kinds of experimental products are Great for marketing for these kinds of big corporations. But the thing is that Google always comes with new different kinds of tech concepts that don’t come out to the market. This does show that the tech is possible, but does not indicate that it is consumer-friendly or they’re having an easy time building it for the masses.

Although this is just a concept and it did come out in May 2021, It shows How this advanced tech is possible and it’s a great thing. Maybe you didn’t know about this until now. Maybe you did know about it, but you just forgot about it. Well, this is a great time to refresh your memory or fill up some new ones. Let’s talk about Google’s Starline Project. Through these years, Google has built products to help people with convenient tools and tech. There have been a lot of communication tools over the years and they have been growing at a very fast rate and it is a great thing. With the pandemic at an all-time high For these previous years now, many video conferencing services like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams are on the rise right now.

But with all these video conferencing services at an all-time high, it’s not anywhere near what it is to feel like a person sitting face to face and talking in real life. Well, Google wanted to change that. So they say they built a new technology called Google Starline. They say that they were building and working on this technology for a few years. So what it does is it makes you feel like you are sitting and talking with a real person on the other end, It Makes you feel like the other person is right there with you But in reality, it’s just a video call. They say, “Imagine looking through a sort of magic window, and through that window, you see another person, life-size and in three dimensions. You can talk naturally, gesture, and make eye contact.”

What they do to make this possible is they apply to research in computer vision, machine learning, spatial audio, and real-time compression, They also built a way to add all of these to the existing current technology networks available right now. So that makes it extra special (The fact that they could release this product tomorrow, even if it was an experimental product, but you could use it like it wasn’t.)

What all of this does is it gives you an effect. The feeling of a person that’s just sitting right across the distance from you. They are most proud of The fact that they can make the technology fade away once you just sit there and start talking. And that is what tech is really. It’s meant to fade in the background of our lives, Not define it. But sadly it’s been the opposite for a few years now.

Currently, Project Star Line is available in just a few of their Google offices and relies on custom-built hardware and highly specialized equipment that is enterprise-grade, They aimed to make this technology more affordable and accessible, bringing some of these technological advancements into their daily suits of communication products. Seems like someone’s killing Zoom soon.
