Microsoft is buying Activision for 68.7 billion all cash deal.

Microsoft announced Tuesday they would buy video game giant Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion for an all-cash deal, I honestly don’t know why they bragged about a company doing an all-cash deal.

Shares of Activision went up about 31% Tuesday morning following the news, Microsoft shares nearly fell 2% following the announcement, This will be Microsoft largest acquisition to date, followed by the purchase of LinkedIn in 2016 for 26.2 billion, this shows how Microsoft is getting into the different diverse industries.

We all know Activision for their popular games like Call of Duty and Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Although they have been in controversy for the last month following some vulgar reports. They also said later that they fired dozens of executives after an investigation about it.

Microsoft has been getting very much into the gaming industry, in the last couple of years, they bought Mojang for 2.5 billion, and last month Microsoft acquired game maker Bethesda.

This deal also plays into the long-term vision for Microsoft as they compete with Meta to build tech to create a virtual network called the Metaverse. But we feel like Meta has got the upper hand because they have their name embedded in the Metaverse.

Microsoft is also trying to get into the virtual space with these games and also become a real rival to Meta, If you think about it, Microsoft hasn’t been at an all-time high In popularity or Setting industry standards while now. But it feels like with these major acquisitions they are getting on the top boards while also becoming really major players In several different industries.

Back to this acquisition, Satya Nadella said on a conference call Tuesday morning following the announcement of the deal “The last two years, in particular, have shown how critical games are to helping people maintain a sense of community and belonging, even when they are apart”
