Enter Anthropic's revised take on Claude Code Projects, an update explicitly designed to tame multi-agent chaos through actual software orchestration instead of endless, unguided prompt engineering.
The core pitch here is genuinely compelling. Instead of watching twenty chaotic threads blindly overwrite each other like toddlers in a server room, Claude acts as a chief of staff. It scopes requests, spins up parallel branches, coordinates the workflow, and keeps grinding away even after you shut the lid and walk away. That sounds like use. But there is a massive catch.

If you work entirely in the terminal with local files, this shiny new orchestration layer is essentially irrelevant right now. The anthropic has gated these persistent threads behind cloud sessions for select Pro and Max subscribers. Local developers are out of luck. It is a frustrating limitation for anyone who prefers keeping their codebase on bare metal rather than trusting a remote web space with every line of proprietary logic.
Management matters. Whether you are dealing with junior engineers or hyperactive machine learning models, uncoordinated output equals technical debt at scale. Until these multi-agent workflows bridge the gap back to local machines, we are stuck choosing between convenient cloud orchestration and complete control over our own hardware.
