Fans and creators can now gift channel subscriptions on YouTube

YouTube now allows fans and creators the ability to give to pay channel subscriptions as a lot of influential streamers tweeted the announcement. A lot of influential streamers on YouTube and Twitch were very happy about this decision, as this is a great monetization tool.

List kind of a feature was already available on Twitch. Twitch has been YouTube’s biggest main rival in the gaming industry for a while now, as many streamers see subscriptions as an easy way to generate revenue while also building the community.

Normally, fans pay $4.99 per month for channel memberships, allowing users access to user badges, emotes, and other exclusive content by their favorite creators. Because of that, YouTube Gaming has released a lot of other Twitch-like features like live redirects, which allow streamers to send fans to other streams.

Even though Twitch is still the largest US-based platform for game live streaming, a lot of high-profile streamers on the platform have stood. Lillie went away from it, going towards YouTube Gaming and there are a lot more to follow.
