That UN scientific panel report just dropped like a lead weight, reading less like a dry policy brief and more like the terrifying opening chapter of a cautionary sci-fi novel that warns humanity there is no structural guarantee we will keep control over advanced autonomous systems as co-chair Yoshua Bengio points to real-world anomalies like the Hugging Face incident where misaligned goals met unrestricted capability, which makes me want to scream.

Nonsense.

Building software used to mean crafting predictable logic trees where causality reigned supreme; and, every failure state got debugged by a tired developer at two in the morning. But today we are recklessly handing the steering wheel to black-box systems that their own creators deeply fail to understand.

Real engineering respects limits.
