That annoyance might finally be ending. Google is rolling out a test for a vertically stacked card list on Android, a layout that trades the horizontal spin for a proper scrolling list. It looks remarkably similar to how Apple has handled its wallet app for years, which proves that sometimes borrowing a sensible layout isn't copying—it's just admitting the original idea was flawed.

What makes this layout change genuinely useful is ergonomics and information density. Vertical lists just fit how our thumbs move across modern, oversized phones. When you stack cards vertically, you can actually see what you are looking for without playing a guessing game with the edges of the screen. Interestingly, early reports show Google is letting more of the actual card design peek through than Apple does, keeping a bit more visual flavor in the mix.
