You can now remove phone numbers from Google search results

Google has always accepted requests to remove personal information from search results, but this option is getting a lot more useful now as Google has just expanded its policy to let you ask for the removal of contact information.

Previously, the company limited requests to special instances like doxing campaigns as well as fraud targets like banks and credit card details. But Google will still review requests now to make sure they are honest, and it won’t scrub references from the public record.

This expansion is part of a lot of other recent efforts by Google to stop the spread of sensitive information on the web. As of last year, Google users under 18 can request the removal of their photos from image searches. However, this might be one of the more important developments.
