With self-driving vehicles on the rise and possibly arriving on UK roads later this year, the UK government is putting new rules in place that make it easier for people to get accommodated with them. Amongst all the rules they are introducing, drivers and autonomous cars will now be able to watch TV from an infotainment screen in self-driving mode as long as they’re ready to take back control.
The government still won’t be allowing the use of mobile phones that were officially banned in the United Kingdom last year. If you’re wondering why it’s because automakers cannot implement technology to stop you from watching your phone but they can when it’s their tech in their car.
Although self-driving cars are not legal yet in the United Kingdom, the Department for Transport said they may be ready later in 2022.
