IKEA already allows users to preview furniture in their own home via augmented reality, but their latest AI-powered iOS app now gives a big leap in capability. Their latest app is called IKEA KREATIV, and it scans your rooms using LIDAR, building a complete 3D replica of them, then lets you delete your existing furniture, and then you can try out new IKEA, couches, tables, etc. And you get a much better idea of how they will look in your home.
This is cool to see as IKEA has been innovating and taking full use of the augmented reality systems users get on iPhones to showcase their products and convert customers. The scanning is done through something the company calls the KREATIV Scene Scanner, the tech works only on iPhones and iPads, with or without Lidar. If you would like to use it on the web or any other mobile device without Lidar, you have to input a series of photographs of your room which will then be automatically processed and assembled into a wide-angle interactive replica of the space with accurate dimensions and perspective.
Although if you are looking for more inspiration, IKEA has also unveiled 15 new 3D showrooms that Lady you to browse the IKEA catalog virtually trying out products in 3D settings, quickly swapping, moving, rotating, stacking, and hanging IKEA products directly in your room through Augmented Reality.
