Tesla just got sued by two former employees from their Sparks, NV Gigafactory over mass layoffs as they claimed that more than 500 workers were let go at the plant without any advanced notice of 60 days, which is a violation of federal laws. The complaint states: “Tesla has simply notified the employees that their terminations would be effective immediately” the 2 workers are currently seeking class-action status on behalf of every Tesla employee in the United States that was laid off in May or June without any advance notice.

Currently, the US WARN Actor requires that companies should provide a 60-day notice before laying off on a huge mass scale, under certain circumstances. This law actually gives employees sufficient time to find other work or retrain. One of the workers who filed this lawsuit, John Lynch, said they were notified on June 10th that they’d be terminated effective immediately.

Attorney Shannon Liss Riordan [Representing the workers] told Bloomberg: “Tesla started laying people off in blatant disregard for the WARN act,” she went on to say that Tesla only offered one week of severance pay to some employees and she is also preparing an emergency motion in an effort to block Tesla from trying to get releases from employees in exchange for a week of severance pay.

Thousands of Tesla workers have reportedly been let go around the United States and a lot of workers have suffered the devastating economic impact, according to this lawsuit. Also, earlier this month, CEO Elon Musk told Tesla executives in an Email that he planned to cut around 10% of jobs, saying that he had a Super bad feeling about the economy.
