Square’s Point of sale app can now accept payments via their iPhone

Sellers using Square’s Point of sale app will now be able to accept payments with only an iPhone as the mobile payment company has just announced that they are now working with Apple to enable this feature within their application and will launch this service to the public later this year.

The company says that this new feature will provide sellers with a very easy to use payment solution as the users won’t ever have to use the add-on devices and terminals anymore as every customer will just have to tap their credit cards, debit cards, or their iPhones with digital wallets like Apple Pay on the seller’s iPhone.

This feature does require sellers to have at least an iPhone XS or later but there won’t be any extra expenses on hardware if any seller already has one. Apple’s tap to pay feature was introduced back in February and everyone saw this as a product that would disrupt the business of companies like Square. But the tech giant did promise that it would work closely with leading payment platforms and it seems like Square is part of that movement and that is why the companies are working together to make it easier for sellers to make more payment gateways.

While the general public won’t get this feature for a while, Square has opened an early access beta program, giving select sellers the chance to try it out as the company has a signup page on their website where sellers will be able to submit their details to learn more about the service.
