WhatsApp’s new browser extension aims to make chats more secure.

Code Verify, a new browser extension from WhatsApp Will improve the security of the WhatsApp web version, Meta (The parent company of WhatsApp) just announced this. This extension verifies the contents of the WhatsApp Web version By making sure nothing has been tampered with. What they aim to do is make it very hard for a hacker or attacker to compromise data or the privacy of the end-to-end encryption that is offered by WhatsApp when using the browser-based version of their service.

This extension just came after Whatsapp’s multi-device beta version last year and it aims to use messaging services from many different devices that aren’t your primary phone a lot easier and a lot more seamless. The company says that they have seen a very huge increase of people accessing their service through web browsers, which does present a lot of security issues and that is why they Made the move to go ahead and Launch this extension.

There’s nothing new with the security method that this extension uses, but it’s just comparing a hash at the code running in your browser with a third-party Cloudflare server. But the value is not in what it does, It’s in the fact that it automates it and you don’t even have to see it happening. Meta says that this extension won’t be able to read or access any of your messages and any of this data won’t ever be sent to Cloudflare.

Meta also released the source code for this extension on GitHub, which opens the door for many other websites to make use of the security features that are made possible due to this extension. There are Extensions for this available for Chrome and Edge right now Meta also says that they are working on a Firefox extension too Which is coming soon.
