Samsung just patented a phone with a sideways folding display, the new LG.

The latest pattern from Samsung is very strange, LetsGoDigital and Concept Creator made the Korean smartphone maker’s latest L-shaped smartphone in the form of renders. This pattern from Samsung features a folding display that opens out sideways and this portion of the display wraps around towards the back of the device when it is in the closed position.

Features that could be possible due to this kind of display bring the memories of the LG wing (Really thanking God. Innovation did not die.) This unreleased device from Samsung can be used when holding it upright or sideways, with the auxiliary display opening to the left or top.

As the screen folds backward, the portion of the display that folds can be used as a viewfinder for selfies. When used with the rear cameras, according to the patent drawings, there is a triple camera setup in a LED flash, but there’s no information as to the exact details. Other details that were included in this patent include a two-part battery and that the folding display would also be made of Samsung’s Ultra-thin glass and the same protective layer that’s normally used on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3.

Although we are not sure if they are going to be making this kind of a device anytime in the future, many tech companies normally file patents for devices that never go to production. Only time can tell if Samsung It’s looking forward to making this device in reality.
