The Steam Deck designers assure that they added as much battery as possible

The designers of the Stream Deck, Greg Coomer and Jay Shaw, one of their most talked about features is the battery life. According to a recent teardown video of the Steam Deck by iFixit, The battery inside of the steam deck is 40Wh (5,313mAh) And is placed inside of the device in an L-shaped design (Kinda similar to what you see on iPhones) allowing it to fit in an otherwise awkward position. The designer said that they put as much battery power as they possibly could into a device of this size Considering all of the other parts that go into it to make the device that it is.

Jay Shaw said, if they did offer a larger battery with the Steam Deck, they would have compromised the overall design of the system, They said that it with a larger battery, they would be changing the actual physical specifications of the device in that does include a lot of compromises that they did not want to make. They wanted people to comfortably play on the device for as long as they wanted to.

If you’re sad with the decision that they made, You have many other options that are already available for extending the battery life of the device. You can go ahead and mess around with graphical settings or variable rate shading. This feature will be making its way to the Steam OS 3.0 around May or June. So if you think the battery life is too low for you, you could just go ahead and toggle those features on when they are available.

The first deck of the Stream Deck was released today, people who did reserve the system will be able to get three days to purchase from receipt of email before their pre-order is released to the next person in the pre-order queue.
