Kia EV6 owners will now get up to three years of free charging, but its not what it sounds like.

Kia EV6 owners will now get up to three years of limited free charging and that is cool at the surface. What companies boast most about when they try selling EVs is that charging vehicles with electricity compared to gas or diesel Is a lot cheaper. Tesla used be a company that Used to give away Free charging with their vehicles for a limited time when they used to sell them a while back, Although that offer has been retracted, It did get a lot of people into their charging network and their vehicles.

Similarly, Kia is now Giving a feature that allows you to not pay to charge the Kia EV6 (Only if you take it on the road trip) And before you get your expectations high, Kia and Electrifies America have launched a deal that gives EV6 buyers 1,000kWh of free charging at any of EA’s US stations for up to three years. That offers around 3,500 to 4,000 miles of driving, depending on your model and road conditions.

This promotional offer is very helpful if you are in a hurry, but the thing is that if you happen to find any of the 350 kW chargers (These chargers can make your car reach up to 80% in less than 18 minutes)

If you did try to calculate it, you might have guessed that this deal is not as sweet as it sounds. Because if you are driving the longest range Kia EV6, You basically will get around 11 to 13 full charges before you start paying up again for charging your car. So basically, don’t go buy the car if you are thinking of getting free charging as you’ll end up with no free charges after just one road trip. Although it is a pretty useful offer as it will soften the initial blow of EV ownership, And if you still are looking forward to getting an Electric car you could just go and buy a Tesla as the Tesla Supercharger network is still a lot larger than Electrify America.
