Many users did notice that the Orange Recording Indicator light in the Control Center appears even when the zoom wasn’t being used. This did raise many privacy concerns Given zoom previously did have a serious privacy vulnerability On Mac in the past. Or representative later did comment on the post said that zoom did experience a bug relating to the Zoom client for Mac OS, which did show the orange indicator light continuing to appear even after leaving a meeting call or webinar.

This representative also said there updating zoom to the newest version 5.9.3, which was released in late January, will fix the issue. The Zoom client for macOS 5.9.3, released on January 25, 2022, fixed a bug involving the failure to properly terminate the microphone use post-meeting and Zoom has also determined that this bug will not result in audio data being transmitted back to Zoom’s platform.
