Google Lens is a very powerful image recognition Tool, I use it a lot when I don’t know what something is or some language (I can just point my phone at it, take a photo and just get the information that I need) You can normally reverse search images, identify plants and animals, you can scan codes, extract and translate text (Written anywhere) & a lot more. Google Lens was originally just limited to smartphones.
But last year Google expanded this powerful tool to the desktop via their Chrome browser integration, But with this integration, the day did not reach a lot of people and they are going to be integrating this into the Google search bar on the desktop, Just like on phones.
Currently, Google Lens on the desktop can be accessed from Chrome’s context menu, but Google is adding the Google lens shortcut in the Google search bar on the desktop soon. People who have received the feature as part of alpha or beta testing or see a colorful Google lens icon appearing in the search box right next to the microphone button.
When you click on that logo. (Whether you are an alpha/ beta tester or a Normal user When Google does release it for the masses) You will be able to Drag and drop or manually upload an image to search with Google Lens on a box. Your uploaded image will then be shown on the left side, while relevant search results appear on the right side. (Kind of like mobile but with more screen real estate and better viewing)
The lens shortcut in Google search hasn’t rolled out widely For the message right now, but Google is planning to bring an improved Google lens experience to the desktop that will let users search for results in the same tab. I’m looking forward to seeing this from Google and as it is a very great tool to use personally.
