Brace yourself for the CPU and GPU market price rise.

Well This was bound to happen. See just reportedly informed their customers that they plan to increase their prices. Do you know what that means? All of that expensive tech we did drool upon. It’s now getting more expensive.

TSMC just informed their largest customers, including NVIDIA and AMD, that they plan to raise the prices of their chips by up to 20%. Of course, this thing will pass on to the consumer, and that equals more expensive CPUs and GPUs. Although this is bad, TSMC is not struggling. Their quarterly profit rose 16.4% recently.

So why this price hike? Well, it is because of the usual factors like Pandemic shortages, Material costs, and logistics increasing. Also, as TSMC and many other companies like it rely on companies like ASML (Which recently suffered a fire at its Berlin plant) Temporarily stopping shipments of advanced equipment. That could be also a major reason for this.

AMD very much relies on TSMC for its manufacturing right now. So considering their current and future CPUs and GPUs are all built with the now more expensive 7-nanometer node, Their prices are going to hike up steep. NVIDIA recently paid for securing their five-nanometer capacity, which they will use to build their RTX 40 series cards due for release later this year. Also, considering we nowadays see 3090Ti’s costing over 4000 Euros. The prices are going to skyrocket.

At this point, only the filthy rich people can get these kinds of processors and graphics cards. It also seems like a lot of other media companies won’t be able to afford to get these kinds of cards. We just can hope for these prices to get a little lower for graphics cards to be used by real gamers. These Years have been really bad for all of us.
