All about the Acer VG240Y, pretty good for a great display – PERSONAL REVIEW

We normally don’t do these kinds of reviews, But The thing is, we just got this for ourselves and we wanted to make an article on it.

So here’s all about the Acer VG240y (VG240Y Pbiip), This has a screen size of 23.8 inches, Also got a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 @75 Hertz Refresh rate. This is not one of those CES prototypes made by LG or any other companies, so obviously it is a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor. Also got 1 millisecond response time (Which is pretty great) It’s powered by an IPS display panel, with 178 degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angles. It has got a brightness of 250 nits and also two very crappy inbuilt speakers. It’s got a VGA port, 2 HDMI-in ports, And one HDMI-out port (Which is really great, As you can Daisy Chain two monitors together) It’s also got AMD Freesync And a great VESA mount on the backside.

Well, that was all of the technical details. Let’s just jump right into the review.

So, As consumers coming from a 19-inch monitor and very big bezels, This Acer monitor looks like an absolute beast. Like looking at it, the color accuracy is great and you’ve got plenty of customization options with a display and you can just put in many different presets which you can use while gaming or watching videos or maybe even working. It still works with the same power cord that we used in the previous one. But the one that they provided us with, We’ve been facing some issues As it’s too big to get into the normal wall Plugs. So we had to get another one from Amazon and it is arriving soon. (Kind of a bummer)

Anyways, We don’t have the tech necessary to use AMD Freesync, And we’re not big gamers here, So we didn’t really try to test it out. But we’re sure it’ll be good in that department. As we normally work in a very dark room and very much controlled light The 250 nits brightness was really good for us as we didn’t even take it upwards 50% of the available brightness.

Also, we were coming from a VA panel previously. But now coming to an IPS panel display type Made me realize the fact that IPS panels are so much more color accurate and better than that VA panel display. So yeah, IPS is pretty good. We could have gone for an OLED option, but the fact that there is not much color accuracy available in those and not a lot of brightness, we did not care to increase the budget and get an OLED. Also, we’re not using the VESA mount right now, and Honestly, I don’t really think no one even needs that, You’ve got a pretty good Table and you could just keep it there with the awesome stand that it’s available. (Hey, I’m not being paid to say this)

So, Viewing angles? Pretty okayish. Like we were switching from a VA panel and you know what? That panel had literally viewing angles capped at 90 degrees probably (Wasn’t really color accurate at all) So the fact that we got literally almost 180 degrees of viewing angles with this one was really great. We haven’t used the HDMI out port yet, but we will soon, We will Daisy chain it, a display sounds like a good idea. We don’t really have a lot of ports on the graphics card that we are using right now, So Daisy chaining is the way to go.

This display is pretty good Honestly, and we will keep you updated with what is up. (If anything goes wrong, or if any support issues come up, we will notify you about that) But talking about this display, this honestly doesn’t have a webcam built-in. (And if you are searching for a great display with a webcam built into it, you can just go with the (Acer VG240y DGMIpcx) It’s got a great webcam built into it and yeah, it costs the same (Wasn’t really available in our case, So we went with the VG240Y PBI)

You can access these monitors ON

This display did cost us nearly about 14,000 rupees (I don’t exactly remember) And for all of you people (From the US) This is exactly 188 USD (What we got it for) (It’ll cost 199 USD for you American Folks) And if you consider it that way, it’s a really great display and you should just go ahead and buy it if you’re looking for one. This was not a paid commercial kind of thing from Acer. We got it ourselves, and we liked it. We’d recommend you could get it, but we totally do not advise you to get this monitor above anything else that you like better. Please remember it’s your decision when you get your monitor with your money.
