PlayStation 5 Improves Discord Integration for Seamless Voice Chats

Sony and Discord have announced an upcoming enhancement for PlayStation 5 users, allowing them to initiate Discord voice calls directly from their consoles without needing a separate app. Previously, gamers had to use Discord on external devices like phones or PCs, leading to a cumbersome process.

With the update, accessing Discord calls on PS5 becomes streamlined. Users can navigate to the Game Base in the PS5 Control Center, select the Discord tab, and instantly see their server lists and who’s active in voice channels. This simplifies the process of joining voice chats and responding to call invitations directly from the console.

The collaboration between Sony and Discord began two years ago, initially focusing on displaying friends’ gaming activities. This latest development marks a significant improvement, making it more convenient for players to connect and communicate while gaming.

Rollout of the new Discord voice chat feature will start in Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East, gradually expanding to other regions including the Americas. This update underscores Sony’s commitment to enhancing the social and multiplayer experience on its gaming platforms, catering to a global audience of PlayStation enthusiasts.
