Snapchat has introduced a parental control page that enables parents to monitor the conversation partners of their preteen children. The brand-new in-app function known as Family Center allows parents to view the friends list and recent message recipients of their children. Be aware that parents cannot view their children’s conversation histories; they see only who their children have been chatting with.

Additionally, parents can use the Family Center to discreetly report accounts they believe to be breaking Snap’s policies. In January, Snapchat stopped displaying accounts that belonged to users between the ages of 13 and 17 in Quick Add. Additionally, teens cannot have public profiles and cannot connect with one another without becoming mutual friends. Additionally, their accounts will only appear in search results in specific situations, such as when someone searches for them and a common friend.

Last year, Snap made a commitment to introduce new parental controls and other tools aimed at safeguarding users who are underage on its service. The business unveiled its plans during a session where lawmakers demanded that teen-targeted social networks and applications like TikTok and Snapchat do more to safeguard youngsters on their platforms. Teens are always free to exit the portal at any time, and they will even be given the option to accept or reject a parent’s offer to join Family Center. The tool will also automatically delete users who turn 18 because it was designed for underage kids. In addition to what it now offers, the business intends to add new features to the Family Center. Parents will be able to quickly view the most recent friends that their teenagers have added in the upcoming weeks. The ability for teenagers to alert their parents anytime they report an account or a piece of content will also be added by Snap over the coming months, along with parental content controls.
