ATTENTION: Facebook is changing everything to compete for GenZ

Mark Zuckerberg and other meta executives just made it clear for a while now that their top priority is competing with their biggest rival, that is TikTok. And as you might know from the company’s history they love copying their competition until they outperform and kill their competitor, although that seems very hard for them in the case of TikTok.

Well, they are now taking very big measures with Facebook to completely overhaul their app to accomplish their new goal of killing TikTok [Which might not work out the way they think it will] The company is trying out a very big major redesign for their main feed that will heavily emphasize content from page creators and people you don’t already follow, Something that has already been happening on Instagram for a while now at a mass scale. The Facebook app head at Meta, Tom Alison Set on a memo that their goal is to shift Facebook into a discovery engine that will heavily rely on recommendations very similar to TikTok.

Recommendations will mostly come from unconnected content, including reels, and users will also be able to see fewer posts from friends and family in their feeds. We still don’t know how long it will take the company to implement these changes, which mirror changes already happening at Instagram so it seems like it won’t take all that long as they’re all connected but you never know.

This new shift towards, AI-driven recommendations and algorithms could be problematic for the company as their current recommendation algorithms have been blamed for exploiting divisiveness and promoting misinformation so we want to see how they go ahead and fix this issue that’s currently plaguing the platform.
