After Sony and Honda announced their plans to form a different company for their electric vehicle partnership, they’ve now given the company a name and will be called Sony Honda Mobility Inc. Established in Tokyo before the end of 2022.

Sony and Honda both own an equal share of 50%. Just like Sony previously stated, this new partnership will utilize Honda’s cutting-edge environmental and safety tech, mobility, developmental capabilities, vehicle body manufacturing tag, and after-sales service management experience. While Sony will contribute Imaging Sensing, telecommunication network, and entertainment tech.

When considering Honda and Sony, or both far behind rivals in the EV industry with their only car being the Honda E, This partnership end up benefiting both the companies involved in the partnership and could just change the future for them.

The point of this is to get Honda Acura SUVs going on sale in North America by 2024, and it seems like that might end up happening very fast. Honda also announced plans last year to shift their entire vehicle lineup to Eaves and fuel cell vehicles by 2040, which is why they are investing $40 billion, launching 13 new Eves by 2030.
