Meta won’t release more Portal devices anymore

Meta will no longer release any more Portal devices for consumers as they just repositioned these smart display and home video lines as a business product and are discontinuing current consumer versions. The company will sell all the remaining inventory of previously released models as they continue providing support for existing customers, but they will focus on business applications for future releases more than any other consumer at home.

Photo lover over quite sold as well as Amazon and Google Smart Display devices, but they enjoyed an uptick in sales after pandemic lockdowns forced companies to let their employees work from home.

The company sold 600,000 portable devices in 2020 and 800,000 and 2021, as businesses still look for solutions to make communicating with workers easier. They did realize the fact that it was business customers that gave these sales a boost these past two years Which is probably why they changed the product’s line of focus.

While killing off consumer Portals, Meta is also now reportedly shelved plans for their long-rumored below camera smartwatch. A lot of previous rumors and reports suggest that it was going to be an Apple competitor, but Meta is now basically focusing on developing other wearables right now.
