TikTok will now start allowing users to create and customize animated avatars to star in their videos. This feature is called TikTok Avatars, and it’s very much like Snapchat’s Bitmoji or Apple’s Memoji characters, but it has a lot more implications than that as you can use it in any TikTok video.

Users will be able to customize the look of their avatar by changing its appearance, clothing, and other characteristics very much like other Avatar builder apps like Bitmoji or the newly introduced Meta avatar. Their app will also include ready-made templates that you will be able to tweak or start from scratch to create a unique avatar.

After the Avatar is done being created, TikTokers will be able to use the character in their videos With the ability to add different voice effects or animated reactions, which is very similar to Apple’s Memoji.

Even though the company has not confirmed the existence of this feature yet, this feature was first spotted back in February and we are pretty sure the company is testing it out and will eventually roll it out. Although the company is hardly the first-ever out there to experiment with animated representations of users, Also this addition makes us question if TikTok Is thinking of joining the mirrors in the future, even though the company hasn’t commented on any plans yet, but TikTok does say that they are planning to continue exploring ways to bring avatars to more experiences. We don’t know if that could include AR, VR, or any kind of XR Platform.
