Instagram still isn’t going to build an iPad app

Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram just said that there is no Instagram app for iPad in the works. It’s been 12 years since Instagram was released to the public, and after a decade without an iPad app, it’s really sad to see Instagram not working on an iPad app.

Just think about it for a second: how absurd is it that iPad users either have to settle for an iPhone-sized Instagram app experience on their tablet or must succumb to browsing the platform on a web browser — as Marques Brownlee points out — in the year 2022?

Adam Mosseri just said that there is not going to be an Instagram app for iPad as “It’s still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority” and that is why they won’t be working on it anytime soon. Mosseri also said, “Hoping to get to it at some point, but right now we’re very heads down on other things.”

Apple shipped out 17.5 million iPads across the entire world in the last quarter of 2021, and their iPads made up 434% of the worldwide tablet market, So we don’t see why Instagram is not going ahead with building an iPad app.

Using Instagram on iPad could seem odd for a lot of people out there, but it’s the same experience you would have if you did use Instagram on PC. You’re not there to take pictures and upload them. You’re just there to consume media and Browse on a bigger screen.
