News is officially dead. It’s just “Feed” now.

The Facebook News Feed now remains dead as after 15 years they (Meta, previously Facebook) have now officially renamed the central feature of the Facebook app, now simply known as Feed, not Newsfeed.

This new name change comes after, Some months after Mark Zuckerberg did change the entirety of the Facebook brand name (to Meta, although the Facebook social network stays the same) We, along with everyone else, can understand and see why this name change is a big thing for Meta, They are trying to change the perception of their core products, as they no longer want to be seen as the data-hungry, Information collecting social media app that leaks your private information online.

The removal of the World News from the name of the news feed is reflective of the company’s new priorities as they are looking forward to changing their entire business plan towards the Metaverse, VR and Web3. Although Facebook’s handling of new stories has been a very big issue for the company because many executives have also argued that the news is only a small percentage of the entire feed. Also, Facebook completely changed its feet in 2018 to focus on friends rather than publishers on Facebook.

Facebook has also tried to counter many perceptions. People hold their they are going to be seeing very much polarizing content when they go on the app as many far-right personalities dominate their feed. Facebook has also published a lot of reports on the widely viewed content Arguing that political content is not that popular. Well, we don’t know what step Meta could take next, As they are currently focused on changing the entirety of their business model and their priorities.

We cannot say how this is going to be working out for them in the long run but we can say that it is very polarizing and puts Meta at the center of the stage with everybody’s attention, We don’t know if that is a good thing or a Bad Thing. We just have to wait and see what happens in the future.
