YouTuber Arrested on Federal Charges for Helicopter Firework Stunt

YouTube sensation Suk Min Choi, known as Alex Choi, has found himself in legal hot water after a daring stunt involving fireworks and a Lamborghini. The US Department of Justice has charged Choi with violating laws prohibiting the possession of explosive devices on aircraft, stemming from a now-deleted video titled “Destroying a Lamborghini With Fireworks.”

In the controversial video, Choi is depicted driving the Lamborghini while two individuals in a helicopter fire fireworks in its direction. Law enforcement authorities allege that the footage was filmed at El Mirage, a dry lake bed in California, without the necessary permits from regulatory agencies.

The Federal Aviation Administration initiated an investigation following the video’s release, citing concerns over safety and compliance with aviation regulations. The affidavit filed with the Central District of California details Choi’s plans for the video, including an “attack helicopter” shooting fireworks at the car, without requisite permissions.

Released on a $50,000 bond, Choi faces serious consequences, with a potential sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison. His arraignment is scheduled for July 2nd, marking a pivotal moment in his legal battle.

This incident is not the first time Choi has courted controversy with his YouTube content. In 2022, he gained attention for a video featuring a rented Tesla performing a risky stunt in San Francisco, resulting in property damage.
