Here’s what Apple might do with the next gen Mac Pro.

According to Mark Gurman, one of the upcoming PCs Apple expects to release includes an M2 version of the Mac Pro. The company has been testing a model of its high-end desktop that has a chipset with a 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU, as well as 192GB of RAM. When configuring the Mac Pro, Apple will eventually give customers a choice between two alternative chipsets. The M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme are two names for it. These processors, which Apple has not yet disclosed, will be “at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max.” The base M2 has 10 GPU cores and 8 CPU cores, which helps put those core numbers into context. The unannounced M2 Max, meanwhile, is anticipated to include 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores.

Along with a new Mac mini, Apple may also reveal updated models of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new M2 Pro and M2 Max CPUs from Apple will be featured in its most recent high-end laptops, while the Mac mini will ship with the same M2 hardware as the 2022 MacBook Air.
