Insta 360 has always been known for its 360 cameras and action cameras and the company has just revealed a 4K webcam called Insta 360 Link with a 3-axis gimbal and a DJI Pocket 2 without the body. The camera has a 1/2-inch sensor which is much larger than what any competition currently offers. The link might perform better than any other webcam in the market in terms of accuracy and dynamic range. The company has also added two noise-canceling microphones, which are very much needed in the age of remote working.
Link can be hung on a monitor using the built-in screen clip, or you could either fit it onto any stand with the standard 1/4-inch mount, So you don’t have to do anything instead of just waiting for the devices AI algorithm to track your face and follow you across anywhere you stand or sit. The AI features also really work great and support gesture control for zooming in and out, as well as enabling whiteboard mode, which is very much like auto Keystone correction on projectors, but for displaying your whiteboard instead.
The link controller companion software does let users adjust various image parameters like brightness, exposure, white balance, and more. You can also switch to lower resolutions in favor of higher frame rates as 1080P and 720P go all the way up to 60 FPS instead of just 30 FPS at 4K, which is also pretty great. The software also offers various shooting modes, and Desk View mode also lets users quickly toggle between their face and tabletop. The Insta360 link is compatible with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google meet, Skype, and more video conferencing platforms on both macOS and Windows, The device costs $300, and it’s available today through the company website.
