Samsung just unveiled a new ‘Repair Mode’ to keep devices safe

Considering that hackers have become pretty lethal and common nowadays, selling personal information in bulk on the Internet, it’s always been very stressful for users to send their own devices for repair. Although any user could easily wipe their phone, they would have to go through the hassle of restoring it later. Well, Samsung has thought of this and that is why they have just introduced a solution for users that raise these kinds of issues in the form of a new function called “Repair Mode”.

This might help users out. According to a Korean announcement by Samsung, You can go ahead and activate this new mode under “Battery and Device care” in the Settings menu on your phone. Samsung did not go ahead and explain what technology runs this new feature, but they did say that when activated it will hide your information, photos, messages, and linked accounts. The technician will only be able to access the pre-installed apps on your phone And to gain access to your data, you simply have to disable repair mode and use pattern or fingerprint recognition to authenticate your identity.

Because Samsung has not announced this new feature outside Korea yet, it’s safe to say that it’s only going to be available in Korea, Samsung’s home country at the moment, and further, it’s only available on the Samsung Galaxy S21 series phones for now. However, the company does say that it will roll out repair mode for other models as well and hope to other regions in the world very soon.
