Herbert Deiss is now leaving VW, here’s all we know

Volkswagen is now shaking up its leadership as the automaker has just announced that the group chairman, Herbert Diess, will leave the company at the end of August. Porsche chairman Oliver Bloom will now be taking over the role while preserving his existing position. As of September 1st. The company did not explain why Herbert exited, but they did say that this move was the result of a mutual agreement they had within the company. Well, we don’t know why this has happened, but we do know that Diess Kind of has a mixed track record with his past.

There is very little doubt that he oversaw a very important movement in Volkswagen’s history as he helped the company start its transitions to EVs and self-driving technology and cars, also preparing for declining car ownership by fostering mobility services. A lot of VW services still depend on combustion engine vehicles right now, but they do expect AVs to represent half of their sales by 2030.

We will not be expecting any radical change under bloom as the new chairman will press ahead with the transformation that largely began under Herbert Diaz. According to VW, Bloom might serve as a custodian in that regard, but it won’t necessarily be a very big change as the company continues to expand and improve its EV lineup.
