GM will soon ramp-up production for the Hummer EV

Currently, General Motors is producing nearly a dozen electric Hummers every day in their factory, and that is very far from ideal, as the company has over 70,000 reservations and at this pace, it will take the company nearly 17 years to fulfill all their orders. While the company does aim to increase their output very sharply in the second half of the year, as they said that production will ramp up more than usual. Although it will be very hard for the company because the chassis for this vehicle was developed from scratch and built on top of the new Ultium EV platform, they built themselves.

The automaker will fulfill deliveries at a much faster pace in the coming months as they switch from using outsourced LG battery cells and manufacturing their battery cells later this summer and their new factory in Ohio. According to a spokesperson at GM, “Our ability to satisfy that demand is only going to improve as we bring on vertical integration of battery cell production. You can expect to see hundreds of deliveries grow to thousands later this year.” The company did not release any exact numbers, so those people at the bottom of the waiting list might just have to wait a long time ahead of this new ramp-up in production to get their car.
