Just like the company promised, Polestar is now bringing Apple Car to play support for their EVs that run on Android Automotive. The card brand just released a new over-the-air update for the Polestar 2 that will make Apple Car play available on the sedan. If you’d rather use Apple Maps instead of Google Maps, or would prefer to talk to Siri instead of Google Assistant, you now get out great choice as long as you connect your iPhone to your car.

In 2020, Polestar expected to deliver CarPlay updates in January of 2021, and there was a very big delay we still do not know what prompted it, but it wasn’t really surprising considering that Android Automotive is built around Google’s OS. iPhone support was also always going to be a lower priority as you don’t ever need an Android phone to use the built-in functionality Polestar brings here car directly with Android Automotive.
We also really need to let you know that you won’t ever be able to find any other car with Android Automotive running Carplay as currently, this is only for Polestar 2, other new Volvo Cars and Rivian’s R1T are some of the cars that you won’t get Carplay. Volvo does expect to add the interface within weeks, and it will eventually support iOS 16’s next-generation CarPlay interface as well.
