OK, so apparently the Nothing Phone 1 might just not be coming to the United States as the company has just made it clear that they are now focusing on home markets including the United Kingdom and Europe.
The company confirmed to PCMag in a statement that read, “While we’d love to bring Phone 1 to the entire community around the world, we’re focusing on home markets, including the UK and Europe,” They did continue to share that they would allow a limited number of the private community investors to get one in the United States through a closed beta program. The company showed off the device for the first time last week on Twitter after it was teased by founder Carl Pei, and the most noticeable feature of the phone is its transparent back that reveals a wireless charging coil and a lot of different lights that show a pattern that lights up.
The company is also promised an open and diverse product ecosystem and the pure Android nothing OS. The company has also gone ahead and explained further that it takes a lot to launch a smartphone as they need to ensure the handset is supported by cellular technologies in a country to carrier partnerships and local regulations. They added that they do have to be strategic about it as they are still a young brand and that is why they are probably not going to be launching in the United States for now.
We also said that users within the closed beta program might also have issues with coverage and a lack of support for features like voice-over LTE and more. Although the company still did say that they have big plans to launch a US supported smartphone in the future, as the phone they currently revealed is set to debut in London on July 12th.
