According to a lot of reports out there, Meta has been working on a smartwatch for these years, with literally two cameras on it. However, that project is on hold as the company is now focusing on other wearables like AR and VR headsets. This long-rumored smartwatch was going to be a possible competitor to the Apple Watch, and it was going to go on sale next spring for nearly $349. A prototype was said to have features including activity tracking, a calendar, a photo gallery, and heart rate monitoring. An 18-hour battery life.

There would be a lot of apps on the watch, including Spotify and other apps like WhatsApp and Instagram stories as well. The prototype did not have a native App Store. Instead, the idea was that you would manage the device using your Facebook account.

The device reportedly had Wi-Fi, GPS, and e-sim support with a removable watch face with two side buttons, one of which would be a circular control. The watch was set to feature a 5-megapixel camera on the watch face and 12 megapixels on the rear. Also, considering that Meta the company has just killed off some of their reality labs projects as they are looking to decrease spending as the company has shaken up its leadership team in recent weeks as well because of projected lower income rates in the future. Also, the company is said to have scaled back on its ambitions for AR glasses, as the company might just stop its plans on releasing its first-generation AR glasses in 2024.
