Apple just announced Digital Passkeys, streamlining


As part of all the different things Apple unveiled at WWDC 2022, the company has also announced new digital pass keys that will allow an extra layer of security to sit above your passwords.

This new feature will be available on both iOS and macOS as Apple’s Passkeys are designed to replace standard passwords by providing unique digital keys that are stashed locally on your device. Apple says by not storing pass keys in the cloud they are much less susceptible to being stolen in the case of a data breach.

Passkeys feature integration with biometric security including Touch ID and Face ID and you can sync it with other Apple devices via iCloud Keychain. They also work with apps on the web, allowing users to sign into their accounts using their iPhone instead of the password they initially made.

The arrival of this new feature comes after Apple announced a partnership with the FIDO Alliance and the WWDC earlier this spring. Apple’s passkeys looked to leave the company’s attempt to simplify and streamline passwords and security With a sign a method that will feature end-to-end, encryption and compatibility with a lot of Apple devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
