Your phone will now become a second screen for YouTube on TV

If you are a user who watches YouTube on your TV, there is a good chance that you are tracking down the video on your phone to leave a comment or to drop a like. Well, now you won’t ever have to do that again as the company has just rolled out a new feature allowing users to use their Android or iPhone as a second screen for the YouTube TV app.

Users can just tap “Connect” On the mobile app and the video will be synced between the two devices, where you’ll be able to comment, donate, shop, or interact with the video playing on the larger display. You will have to sign into these same YouTube accounts on both devices. The second screen feature isn’t tight to specific TV platforms, so you won’t have to worry about using the wrong media box or TV.

This update goes to show that YouTube knows the fact that users often want to do more with the video than just watch it and that users probably have their phones in hand while they’re sitting on the couch.
