Panasonic Toughbook are very rugged devices and are extremely modular but they don’t define portability, well that is about to change as the brand just introduced a new Toughbook40 that weighs over a pound less than its predecessor despite a larger 14” Display.

Of course, the device is still not as league and elegant as every other laptop on the market but the thing is that device isn’t meant for elegance, but it’s built to be tough. The device is the best laptop in the market if you’re into having military-grade outdoor resistance as well as modularity including four expansion slots as well as a replaceable battery, keyboard, RAM, and storage. The laptop is unparalleled, and I think no one else could pull this off except for Framework.
Well, we did talk about modularity, but we did not talk about cutting-edge performance as you are still getting an 11th Gen Core i5/ i7 processor. You do get 64 gigs of cool RAM, You also get up to two terabytes of SSD storage and Thunderbolt 4 ports with your choice of 5G and LTE modems. Also, you get 1200 nits in bright sunlight and a second battery that can increase the battery runtime up to 36 hours.

The laptop also isn’t the best in the pricing segment as the Toughbook 40 will be available in late spring with a $4899 starting price tag. But because Panasonic doesn’t aim at everyday users who would buy an XPS 13 or MacBook, it’s meant for on-site staff and military personnel who may need to work in very bad conditions.
