Google’s Russian division just went bankrupt, all their money gone

Google’s Russian division just submitted a notice of intention to declare bankruptcy after Russian officials seized the official bank account. According to a Google spokesperson, this move “has made it untenable for our Russia office to function, including employing and paying Russia-based employees, paying suppliers and vendors, and meeting other financial obligations,”

Just like many other companies out there, Google also suspended most of their commercial activities in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine in February, and after that bankruptcy filing, they will continue to provide Russians with access to free services like search, YouTube, Gmail, Maps and Android for the time being but we do not know as they suspend all their operations in the country to which will cause a lot of problems for existing innocent users.

Google has been having a lot of beef with Russia as the country finds the company nearly $82,000 for failing to delete thousands of content they deemed illegal, After which they were again fined nearly $98 million in December for the same reasons. Although Russia has blocked a lot of social media and major platforms out there, the country still doesn’t have plans to block YouTube. They say that residents would suffer as a result of such a move.
