Amazon’s new Fire 7 tablets will be arriving this summer equipped with better software that is Fire OS 8, an entirely new version of the Fire OS that is based on Android 11. Considering Google no longer releases more security patches for Android 9, this will be a great news for fire tablet owners as this means they will be able to enjoy better features and more security with this new update.

Although most bought this new update seems to be under the hood, security updates, users will also be able to expect a new system wide dark mode which will make browsing at night easier on the eyes. The new OS will also support HEIF or (High Efficiency Image File) format images, an update to JPEGs that most Apple and Android smartphones have supported since 2018.

Firearms will also be able to access your device location running in the background, but you will need to give permission. This update also includes a lot of new privacy controls, including permissions on location tracking for a better breakdown for what to expect in Fire OS 8.
