To fill out some positions at Meta last year, the company stopped requiring job seekers to hold a university or college degree for some roles. The company said that they hoped this would encourage employers to recruit people, even with post secondary education. Well they just partnered up with Coursera to make different courses for people out there.

Medal says that the programs will help out people get necessary skills and land jobs in big tech companies and enrolling in these courses also does not really require any qualifications or experience. Users can learn everything from front end development to Android and iOS app creation, with the latter offering a course in JavaScript, React, Swift and UI kit.
These courses are coming at a time where tech companies like Meta themselves or struggling to get their staff. Also, there is a very big shortage for a lot of IT positions across the United States and it just remains to be seen how much these professional certificates will help out people address their problem. But clearly Meta is really working to build loyalty, and helping the decreasing number of people available for IT Jobs.
