Facebook is now shutting down Soundbites [Their general audio hub that you probably might have not heard about] From now, podcasters will not be able to add shows on the platform removing them entirely on June 3rd. Also, audio rooms will turn into Facebook live.

According to a Meta Rep, the move will help Meta focus on the most meaningful experiences. Although we have to say that there were a lot of hints in recent weeks that the company was losing interest in podcasts, shifting attention to other things like the main feed and Instagram Reels. Also, we have to point out the fact that the company didn’t turn off this service because they were receiving fewer users, but because they were more interested in the Metaverse and shifting interests in conquering AR VR before other companies could.
Also, considering Facebook is getting more fierce competition in the sound realm with Apple and Spotify being the major threats, they thought they were better off going with VR solely.
