Epic begs to stop Google from removing Bandcamp from the Play Store

Epic claims Google’s Strict app purchase requirements that demand band camp use Google’s billing system from June 1st, dealing payments from a maximum of 48 hours to as long as 45 days could cause harm to both the company and musicians.

Epic Games just bought out Bandcamp and they are very worried that Google could get rid of the music streaming platform from the Play Store and that is what the company just filed for a preliminary injunction stopping Google from ever removing the app from the Play Store.

Epic also continues to say that they are likely to prevail in the antitrust case, meanwhile, Google will face no harm if the existing Play Store policies remain in place. There’s a very good chance that Google could object to the injunction filed by Epic as they countersued the company on October 4, willfully violating the Play Store rules with Fortnite’s in-house billing system.

No matter if the injunction succeeds or not, it will draw a lot of attention to regulatory pressure on Google and its arc rival Apple, as the company is facing an antitrust lawsuit from 36 states in Washington DC, over their abuse of the Play Store controlled by the company.
