PS5 owners just got access to a very long-awaited variable refresh rate feature, as they are getting it in the coming days. Sony is starting to roll out a new system update that will enable VRR support this week.

Variable refresh rate mitigates visual artifacts like screen tearing to improve visual performance. Also, doing that by dynamically matching the refresh rate of your display to the output of the PS5.
If your PS5 is connected to a compatible display with HDMI 2.1, VRR will automatically turn on for supported games. Some games that you can expect with VRR are Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Astro’s Playroom, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Resident Evil Village, Call of Duty: Vanguard, DIRT 5, and Destiny 2. You might get more VR optimized patches for other games in the future too.
