There’s been a very long-running rumor in the industry that Google’s new smartwatch will be named the Pixel Watch. Well, turns out everyone was great as Google just filed paperwork with the US Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the Pixel Watch name. In the application, Google also stated that the name is intended to cover the categories of smartwatches and wearable computers, and the nature of smartwatches as well as smartwatch cases, straps, and bands.
The trademark application did not contain any other additional details about the device that Google is possibly going to be launching in the coming months, but based on a lot of previous rumors and render leaks, the company’s first developed House smartwatch will have a circular watch face with no bezel.
Jon Prosser said that Google is planning to launch their first smartwatch on May 26th, and that doesn’t sound very unlikely since the date coincides with the annual Google IO 2022 conference. But also Google has to go through a lot more regulatory hurdles before the device launches, since the device hasn’t been spotted in any listings at the Federal Communications Commission and the Bluetooth S IGA May 26th could be very soon for it to be unveiled.
