Twitter just announced a new ban on advertisements that promote climate change denial, saying that misleading advertising that contradicts specific scientific consensus on the crisis won’t be permitted on the platform under their policy on inappropriate content.

The company’s sustainability team says that they believe that climate denialism should not be monetized on Twitter and that Miss representative ads shouldn’t distract from important conversations about the climate crisis that we have going on right now.
Twitter also says that they will assess whether climate change advertisements break the rules based on reports from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
This move is part of other measures Twitter is taking to address climate change, as, by the end of 2022, the company aims to only use carbon-neutral power sourcing at their data centers. Also joined the EU Climate pact earlier this year.
