WhatsApp is starting to experiment with communities, which is an update representing a major revolution for the messaging app, according to Zuckerberg.
This new communities feature will allow people to combine separate group chats under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. WhatsApp then said that this way people will be able to receive updates sent to the entire community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them.

The company hasn’t shared more details about how exactly these groups will be formed, but a spokesperson stood up and said that this idea is to give close-knit groups more ways to communicate beyond the chat features currently offered by WhatsApp. The company is now testing the feature out in some select countries out there but they do intend to release this feature globally pretty soon.
Zuckerberg then went on to say that the community Switcher would be a major shift for WhatsApp and Mirror, one that emphasizes feeds and traditional social networking features less than community messaging.
