Niantic is a company that is very much known for creating AR games based on existing franchises. But apparently, their next move will help them move away from that sentiment as their next title “Peridot” is going to be an original one. The game is all about breeding and caring for unique virtual pets that are always by your side.
According to a blog post by Niantic senior producer Ziah Fogel, the Peridots (Dots) have been asleep for thousands of years and they’ll need players’ help to ensure their survival, Players will have to feed, play and explore with their dots to raise them to adulthood. And while you’re on daily walks every day, your dot will also discover hidden treasures and you’ll be able to diversify the species of your dots by working with other players. This game currently seems like it’s more geared toward players that like games like Pokémon Go and Pikmin Bloom.
It’s going to be Niantic’s first original game since they launched Ingress. This game is kind of in its soft launch period, and it’s only going to be available in select markets at first, although if you are interested you can just go ahead and sign up to be notified when the game is available in your region.
