Twitter has now confirmed an edit button which is on the way. [They say that they’ve been working on it for a year now] The company was light on details, but they did share a mock-up of the feature, which they said they would test with Twitter Blue subscribers first in the coming months.

Twitter said that they didn’t get the idea from a poll, referencing Elon Musk’s [the company’s largest shareholder] Twitter poll asking users from the social media network if the company should create an edit button for Tweets.
Jay Sullivan [head of consumer product] said that an edit button was the most requested Twitter feature for many years, and the company would be actively seeking input and adverse aerial thinking before launching the feature to prevent potential misuse of the feature.
Sullivan expresses how without any time limits, controls/or transparency about what has been edited, this feature could be misused to alternately public, recurrent, and conversation and protect the integrity of that public conversation. Which just why he said that it would take time and they would actively seek input and adverse aerial thinking in advance of launching this feature. Bring this feature to Twitter Blue subscribers could be also a great boost for Twitter’s recently launched subscription service, which just costs $2.99
